Owners of damaged homes in Benton County prepare for rainfall

BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Some owners of damaged homes in Benton County are preparing for the rain brought by the remnants of Hurricane Beryl.

Samantha McCoy and her family have been fighting off water damage since the Memorial Day weekend tornadoes.

Ahead of the rain, they had a roofing company out to secure the tarp on their roof.

“Thankfully, they came today before it starts rolling in. I can already tell it’s starting to get cloudy,” McCoy said.

Crews worked for hours tightening the tarp by nailing in the sides of the McCoy’s home in Rogers.

“They also put plywood down up on top of the other tarp, so hopefully that will help a little bit. “I am just hoping it doesn’t flood in,” McCoy said.

Calling for help was the first step to recovery for the McCoy’s.
