NFL Analyst Says This Team Will Make The Playoffs Because Of Its ‘Psychopath’ Coach

Everywhere Jim Harbaugh has coached he’s had success.

Which is why NFL analyst and “Good Morning Football” host Kyle Brandt believes the Los Angeles Chargers are primed for a big year in Harbaugh’s first season with the team.

During a recent appearance on Mina Kimes’ “Power Hour” podcast, Brandt disclosed the arbitrarily high expectations he has for the Chargers, who went 5-12 last season and fired head coach Brandon Staley 14 games into the season.

“I think the Chargers are going to win 11 games this year,” Brandt said . “I am completely in. Just follow the pattern. … That psychopath they have at head coach is going to do whatever he needs to do. It’s a pattern that’s gone on for 15 years. … There’s no warm-up year. You’re never like, ‘Oh, Harbaugh’s first year, they won eight games. That’s great, [they’ll improve] next year.’ It’s immediate. I think they’re going to win 11 games this year, I have them in the playoffs, I have them fighting for everything.”

To Brandt’s point, Harbaugh has a 34-18 record in his first season coaching a new team. The only place he didn’t have a winning record in Year 1 was at Stanford, where he went 4-8 after taking over for Walt Harris.

Of the 19 full seasons Harbaugh has coached, he’s had just two losing seasons, and he’s won double-digit games in 10 of the last 13 seasons between Stanford, Michigan and the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chargers are Harbaugh’s second go-around in the NFL. He had a 44-19-1 record in four seasons with the 49ers with three playoff appearances three NFC Championship game appearances and one Super Bowl appearance.

“I can’t see any scenario where the Chargers went 6-11 and Harbaugh just didn’t have it,” Brandt added. “He always has it. Him and (Sean) McVay are the best coaches alive. I believe that much in Jim Harbaugh.”
