    Driveway Turn Leads to Collision: Two Injured in SR19 Crash

    JEFFERSON, WA — A personal injury collision involving two vehicles occurred on July 8, 2024, at approximately 22:04 on SR19 at milepost 8. The incident, caused by one vehicle following too closely, resulted in injuries to two individuals.

    According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the collision took place when a gray 1999 Chevrolet GMT-400 PK attempted to make a left turn into a driveway. A green 1997 Ford Ranger PK, following too closely, collided with the Chevrolet. Following the collision, the Chevrolet came to rest on the southbound shoulder, while the Ford stopped on the northbound shoulder of SR19.

    The driver of the Ford, Jhony C. Vergara Sanchez, 34, of Port Townsend, WA, and a male passenger, age 5, were not injured and were wearing seatbelts. Another passenger in the Ford, Abileni Mujica, 31, also from Port Townsend, WA, sustained injuries but was not transported to a medical facility. A female passenger, age 13, from Port Townsend, WA, was injured and transported to Jefferson Healthcare Medical Center. Both injured passengers were wearing seatbelts.

    The driver of the Chevrolet, Silas R. Riggle, 31, of Port Hadlock, WA, was not injured. Passengers Boone C. Garten, 31, of Hansville, WA, and Alan M. Hinds, 50, of Chimacum, WA, also escaped injury. All occupants of the Chevrolet were wearing seatbelts.

    The WSP report indicates that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. Both vehicles sustained reportable damage but were driven from the scene.
