Ready to be scared? Burdette Park has a new event scheduled for this fall that will be fun for horror movie enthusiasts.

"Fright Night" at the Vanderburgh County park will include a screening of the blockbuster 1980 film "Friday the 13th." Burdette officials think their park has some aesthetics that mirror the horror movie's Camp Crystal Lake, making it a natural pick for the night.

The family-friendly event will project the film onto a 40-foot screen in the main parking lot south of the pool. According to the park's social media account, the event is not a drive-in style gathering, so no vehicles will be permitted in the viewing area.

Attendees will park on the east side of Burdette and enjoy a fear-filled walk to the viewing area, which will include hay bales and spots for chairs.

Spectators can have their picture taken with "Friday the 13th" villain Jason Voorhees and other fan-favorite horror movie characters.

Tickets go on sale Aug. 12 for $20 each, and the gates will open at 7 p.m. Several food trucks will be on-site.

More information can be found at burdettepark.org.
