The marketing campaigns for NEON's upcoming film Longlegs , starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe, has been one for the ages. Fans have taken to social media to praise the team behind the mystery, which is doing an artful job of getting people invested in the film without giving too much away.
In a recent interview, the film's star Maika Monroe said, "When I walked in and saw Nicolas Cage for the first time as Longlegs, that was a visceral experience I'll never forget", and NEON have taken that and ran with it by releasing a video soundtracked by her actual heart rate.
In the film's final act, Monroe's character, Agent Lee Harker, comes face to face with Longlegs following a lengthy investigation into his case.
NEON has now released the clip but with a twist. Opening with an ominous title card which says, "The first time Maika Monroe saw Nicolas Cage as Longlegs was in the following scene".
We then cut to the clapperboard masking Nicolas Cage before getting the reveal of what we are to see: "What you're about to hear is Maika's actual heartbeat".
The scene plays out to the powerful beat of Monroe's heart, which races ominously to a staggering 170 bpm when "Maika's resting heart rate is 76bpm".

Longlegs hits theaters this Friday, July 12, but it has had a masterful rollout, leading to curiosity piquing over time.
People can't wait to see what the film has in store, but as Instagram user @cammbam90 said under the video of Monroe's heartrate: "Even if the movie ends up not meeting the wild expectations people have for it, the marketing for it has been truly exceptional. Some of the best I've ever seen."
