GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A Michigan man has been arrested and accused of driving under the influence after crashing into two boats and a seawall over the holiday weekend.

Around 7 p.m. Friday, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office says a Marine Division patrol crew had stopped a 17-foot Wellcraft for a minor violation at the Jefferson Beach Marina near the entrance to Lake St. Clair.

During that stop , another boater, operating a 30-foot Sea Ray Cabin Cruiser, entered the marina faster than the posted no-wake limit and struck the patrol boat, the Wellcraft and then the seawall.

Both the Wellcraft and the patrol boat suffered damage, but no one was hurt.

The driver of the Cabin Cruiser failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for operating a watercraft while under the influence. The driver, identified as a 69-year-old man from Oak Park, was taken to Macomb County Jail.

Investigators said despite the damage, the patrol boat will not need to be taken out of service.
