A great burger is one of those quintessential summer foods. But sometimes I crave a burger with a little extra oomph. That was the inspiration for this irresistible coleslaw burgers recipe. The secret? We mix ground beef with Heinz 57, Worcestershire and hot sauce to give the patties tons of rich flavor. Once they’re grilled to smoky perfection, we top them with a tangy crisp coleslaw that’s tossed in a creamy lemony dressing. Each bite is a medley of tastes and textures. And the best part? These burgers are just $2.24 a serving, making them affordable for a cookout. Give this recipe a try and let us know what you think.

Quick tip: To ensure that your burgers grill up beautifully, keep the patties cold until you’re ready to grill them, and flip only once during cooking. Never press burgers with a spatula while they’re grilling – that helps them retain their luscious juices.

    • ⅓ cup mayonnaise
    • 1 Tbs. sugar
    • 1½ tsp. white vinegar
    • ½ tsp. grated lemon zest
    • ½ tsp. celery seeds
    • 3½ cups packaged fresh coleslaw mix, from 14-oz. pkg.
    • 1 lb. ground beef
    • ¼ cup Heinz 57 sauce
    • 1 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
    • ½–1 tsp. Tabasco hot pepper sauce
    • 4 sesame-seeded hamburger buns, split
    • 2 leaves green leaf lettuce, torn
    • ½ cup drained dill pickle chips

    Instructions

In bowl, combine mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, zest and celery seeds. Add coleslaw mix; toss until combined. Cover; chill.

Prepare grill for medium direct-heat cooking. In separate bowl, combine ground beef, Heinz 57 sauce, Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce. Shape into 4 (½" thick) patties.

Grill burgers, flipping once, 4–5 min. per side for medium-rare or until desired doneness. Fill buns with lettuce, burgers, coleslaw and pickles.
