    Challenging Racism from Within: George Sedberry's Cross-Country Trek to Empower HBCUs

    Recently On The Rashad Richey Morning Show , Viral sensation George Sedberry , also known as White George , discussed his journey of walking across the United States to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). His mission is to amplify their contributions and share stories of black history.

    Mr. Sedberry, who has a personal connection to HBCUs through his education and teaching career, shared insights into his upbringing in Arkansas and how exposure to diverse perspectives during incarceration reshaped his views on race.

    "I grew up in an environment where racist ideology was prevalent," Mr. Sedberry said. "it wasn't until I went to prison until God pulled back the veil and did I start to meet men who grew up 20 minutes from me, who might as well have grown up on a different planet from me."

    His journey, which has taken him to 30 HBCUs over the past year, aims to highlight their role in American history and promote understanding across communities. Despite facing challenges and opposition in certain regions, White George remains committed to his advocacy.

    "I fell in love with them because I was researching so much black American history and HBCUs were a common thread" Mr. Sedberry said.

    Mr. Sedberry is active on social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram (@whitegeorge) to document his journey and engage with supporters. His efforts have resonated with listeners, prompting discussions on racial reconciliation and the importance of education in shaping a more inclusive society.

    As White George continues his walk across America, his message of unity and empowerment through education continues to inspire others to support HBCUs and celebrate their legacy.
