The Devil Wears Prada 2 Reportedly in the Works

Puck reports that Meryl Streep will reprise her iconic role of Miranda Priestly in a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada , and the project is already in development at Disney.

And Streep is not the only familiar face grabbing her cerulean dress to return to the high fashion world, Puck reports.

Emily Blunt was also convinced to return by Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman, Puck reports, alongside original screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, who is in talks to pen the screenplay.

While there has been no confirmation of what narrative the film will follow, Puck suggests we will see Miranda Priestly battling the decline of traditional publishing at the end of her career and will now face off against Blunt as Emily Charlton, who serves as an exec at a luxury group.

The role reversal narrative seems plausible, but Puck said a representative for Disney declined to comment on the legitimacy.

This announcement comes off the back of the upcoming stage musical adaptation of the film, which stars Vanessa Williams as Miranda Priestly with an original score from Elton John. Opening with advance previews in October, the show features direction and choreography by Tony Award-winning Jerry Mitchell, with lyrics by singer-songwriter Shaina Taub and book by Kate Wetherhead.
