A happy Golden Retriever decides to help Grandma make a blanket, and it's the cutest fail we've seen in a long time.

On July 5, 2024, TikTok user Chowder and Gumbo (@chowderand gumbo) shared a quick video of a really sweet Golden Retriever named Chowder. Take a look!

In a 16-second video clip , Chowder is hanging out with his Grandma, who is busy working on a project. And he tries to help. But it didn't quite work out.

"Chowder saw his Grandma making a blanket and really wanted to help," the text on the video shares. And we see that Grandma is sitting at a table and she's working on blanket that's bigger than the table.

But Chowder really wanted to help, and in true Golden Retriever, he tried to help but it didn't quite work.

Chowder's idea was to jump on the table and sit on top of the blanket Grandma was working on. Clearly, he didn't realize that he was a full-sized Golden Retriever, which means he was almost bigger than the table itself.

"Such a helpful boy," the text on the video adds. Grandma pauses her work on the blanket and takes some time to give the pup some pets.

And he look so proud of himself for helping, and he has the best smile.

In the comments, people had a lot to share about what a good boy Chowder is for taking such care to help Grandma with the blanket.

"I believe it's his blanket now," one person wrote. "Right, Grandma?"

"See, I fits I sits," another added, referencing the phrase we usually reserve for cats.

"He did what he should," another admitted.

"Grandma's are the best," wrote another.

"He's the most accurate measuring tape there ever was," shared someone else.

Are Golden Retrievers Typically Helpful Dogs?

According to the American Kennel Club , Golden Retrievers are really good at being helpful, and that's why they're one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States.

"They are serious workers at hunting and field work, as guides for the blind, and in search-and-rescue, enjoy obedience and other competitive events, and have an endearing love of life when not at work," the club wrote.

"Goldens are outgoing, trustworthy, and eager-to-please family dogs, and relatively easy to train," the American Kennel Club added. "They take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood."

Just like Chowder is doing, Golden Retrievers are really helpful dogs, so much that they're also a very common breed for guide dogs and support dogs.

"Golden Retrievers also learn quickly and they love to perform tasks for their owners; bred initially as hunting dogs that were given the task of retrieving shot ducks, Golden Retrievers enjoy the challenge of learning new skills and being given a chance to prove themselves to their owners," the US Service Animals writes .

"Additionally, as a medium-sized dog, they are highly suited to performing tasks that need a little more strength and height, such as opening doors, pushing buttons, and supporting their owners with their body."

    Good job, Chowder!
