No breezy start

Some 40 teams registered to compete in the annual Bayfield Race Week sailing regatta from July 1-5. Though the wind was brisk at times, some teams were caught waiting for the whip needed to enter the fray.Hosted by the Wayzata Yacht Club, the race has become the centerpiece of the Apostle Island Station season featuring a week long festival of sailing and music on the South Shore of Lake Superior. Every year the event attracts boats and crews all points of the compass, including fleets from Canada, Florida, Duluth, and the Twin Cities. Results from the 2024 event have yet to be posted and will appear in the Ashland Daily Press when available.
