Love Island‘s Kassy Confirmed the Real Reason She & Leo Broke Up in a Very Unexpected Way

A month before their breakup, Love Island ‘s Kassy and Leo were talking about moving in together. The couple finished second in the USA’s fifth season, leading some fans to wonder why they split since things were going so well.

“I would gladly go live with her out in Texas, and then do school online and make content and stuff together, and spend every day with her because that is truly my best friend,” Leo told USA Today in September 2023. “Being here without her doesn’t feel right. … I literally did everything with her. Trying to adjust to that is like a foreign feeling.”

“Leo did say that he would move down here and stuff for me,” Kassy added. “I know he would love Dallas and Fort Worth. I wouldn’t mind living with him because I lived with him already for what, a whole month and a half? But it felt longer.” But a month later, it was over between them. While Kassy didn’t get into the details, she did hint that their long-distance situation was one of the reasons their situation didn’t last. She also indicated that there were no hard feelings, and she left it open for the possibility of a reunion further down the line.

“No Leo and I are not together, I think it’s just best that we do our own thing right now. It’s long-distance, it’s a lot. I still care for him and wish him all the best. Truly. He was my Love Island experience so he has a special place in my heart,” she said during an Instagram live in October 2023, which was later published to the /LoveIslandUSA Reddit .

“Everything was real and genuine, that’s what makes it harder now. Breakups suck. All that I ask is for everyone to give us time because it’s so new. I care for him so much and I wish it didn’t go this way but I really do think this is for the best. I hope soon… who knows? I’m open to anything in the future but it’s just not aligning. He doesn’t deserve any harsh words or comments.”

In the comments of the Reddit post, many fans were surprised at how she went about announcing their split. “Very shocked that she announced it live. Most people type up a statement b/c it’s difficult to share that news while getting reactions to it in real time. I hope she’s okay,” one fan wrote.

“She tried so hard not to answer, but the questions kept coming. That has to be so hard to do on live,” another wrote, while a third fan observed in response, “Which seems so odd to me that she’d even do a live q&a if she was going to avoid the question.”

On July 7, 2024, Kassy announced she was returning to the Love Island villa for the sixth season of USA, so we’d guess that the chances of her getting back together with Leo are slim to nil at the moment.
