MIDDLESEX — The Free Will Baptist Children’s Home will host its alumni homecoming event on Sunday.

Slated for a 9:45 a.m. start, the celebration will proceed with a church service at 10:30 a.m.

Lunch will be catered by Parker’s Barbecue and held in the Whitley Center.

Founded in 1920 as a home to four siblings, the facility now spans some 400 acres in southern Nash County and features two programs — a residential initiative for children 12 and older and a family foster care track that guides children from birth through age 18.

While living at the home, young people are responsible for basic chores and assisting others.

The foster project, which held a meeting for prospective parents on Tuesday, provides insight on the registration process, classroom guidance and licensure.

Also on site is the Bridge Learning Center, which opened in 2017 to provide before- and-after-school care for local pre-K through fifth grade students.
