Monarch Mountain released a social post this morning. It said: "LET'S GO!"

The "go" means the expansion of the mountain to the west, into the so-called No Name Basin.

The expansion onto the "back" side of the Continental Divide would add approximately 377 acres of skiing and riding with about a thousand vertical foot drop.

The terrain is primarily intermediate with slopes of 25 to 45 degrees.

The the majority of the area has a west/northwest aspect. It would include one lift, the No Name lift (which ironically has a name).

"The MOA has been finalized and the USFS just signed the Decision Notice," the resort's Scott Pressly wrote this morning. "This now officially approves the No Name Basin terrain expansion project to move forward! This project will add 377 acres to our existing Special Use permit along with ten cut trails, additional gladed terrain, a fixed-grip triple carrier lift, a warming house, and restrooms at the bottom…."

    Woohoo!
