The National Hockey League and New Era Cap, LLC announced a multiyear production agreement that will grant New Era the rights to produce and distribute headwear and apparel for the league and all 32 of its teams. New Era will begin production of products for the upcoming 2024-25 NHL season.
This agreement comes in a transition period of apparel production in the NHL, as Fanatics is now the official outfitter of on-ice jerseys for the league starting this upcoming season. Fans will now potentially see some new hats hit the market in addition to the licensing on their favorite jerseys changing as well.
The Fanatics merger has come with a lot of pushback from fans, after seeing how poor of a jersey product Fanatics put on the field in Major League Baseball. However, New Era Cap has a strong reputation in the professional sports apparel landscape, so this should make fans happy.
“This partnership brings together two global brands, working together to grow a global game,” said Christopher H. Koch, Chief Executive Officer of New Era. “While we have been working with individual clubs for decades, we are excited for our new agreement with the League and look forward to creating special moments for fans and players in North America and around the world.”
New Era has held a relationship with the NHL previously, producing products for individual teams, most considerably the Buffalo Sabres. However, this agreement will allow all 32 fanbases to purchase the hats and other memorabilia of their favorite teams produced by New Era. That can be considered a win, as many would agree that New Era produces a far superior hat compared to Fanatics, or any other company for that matter.
New Era NHL products will soon be available for purchase on both New Era Cap and the NHL's official websites. The NHL announced today that collections to be released in the months ahead will feature current NHL and team logos, vintage marks, and event logos for the NHL Winter Classic and the NHL Stadium Series.
