SABINE COUNTY, Texas ( KETK ) — On Monday, following Beryl’s path at around 1:15 p.m., Holly Park Marina on Toledo Bend suffered extensive damage.

Record 67 tornado warnings issued on Monday after Beryl’s landfall in Texas

Shamrock Shores Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) said employees and customers at the marina took shelter in the office area. The suspected tornado reportedly came across the water from the southeast area on Toledo Bend and was wrapped in water, making it nearly impossible to see, the VFD said.

Nonessential people were escorted from the area and Deep East Texas Electric Coop shut off all live electric lines.

“Numerous RVs were tossed around, turned over and hanging in trees. There were downed power lines and a very strong smell of propane covered the area,” Shamrock Shores VFD said. “When all power lines were de-energized, personnel from Shamrock Shores VFD and Pendleton Harbor VFD went from RV to RV turning off all propane tanks and removing any damaged tanks from the area.”

Many RVs and boats were lost due to the storm, however Shamrock Shores VFD said there were no injuries reported at this time.

6 people killed in Houston area during Beryl, officials say

Shamrock Shores VFD thanked Pendleton Harbor VFD, David Roach, Sabine County Emergency Coordinator, Judge Daryl Melton, Sabine County Sheriff Tom Maddox and the Sabine Ambulance Service for their help.

“It’s good to see Sabine County’s First Response, and Emergency Personnel work together to handle a potential deadly situation. What’s better to see, is the fact that in this emergency there was no tragic outcome or injuries,” Shamrock Shores VFD said.
