Ever found a gorgeous planter, maybe from somewhere like Pottery Barn, but you couldn't justify dropping mega bucks on something that will just be filled with a plant and go outside? Don't worry, we totally get it. Luckily, there are plenty of easy ways to give even the most boring and basic of planters the luxe look, such as following this hack from TikTok channel ' MakeItPretty ', which sees ordinary planters turn into vintage Pottery Barn dupes in no time.

Wanted a vintage looking pot from Pottery Barn but didnt want to pay the price! Easiest DIY yet! Grab a pot from Home Depot, some flat black paint and a little tile grout and make your own! #minimakeover #homedepot #potterybarndupeplanter #frontporchdecor #potterybarndupe #potterybarndiy

We all know that Pottery Barn look by now. There is a certain vintage aesthetic that it has which makes it oh-so popular. But what if you could replicate that same look at home? Well, according to this creator all you need is some cheap plastic planters , such as the ones you can find at Walmart or most dollar stores, and spray paint it black with a flat or matte spray paint.

Next, take some tile grout and get to rubbing that all over the planter. You want a nice even layer, but don't worry if some areas are a little thicker than others - that gives it a bit more charm. Allow to dry, spray paint again, then repeat the process but add less grout this time around.

Finally, give it one last 'loose' spray of paint - you want some of the grout to still be visible underneath. That gives it a somewhat 'terra-cotta' look that Pottery Barn is so known for. And there you have it - that is literally all you need for this Pottery Barn-inspired dupe!

Can You Give Other Pieces the 'Pottery Barn Treatment'?

Oh absolutely! The best part about this hack is the fact that you can totally use it on other pieces in your home as well! Give a vase or pot the same treatment and you have even more Pottery Barn dupes for cheap!

Remember, the key to this hack is to not worry too much about perfection. Part of the charm of vintage pieces is their imperfect, handmade look. So, don't stress if your planter doesn't come out looking exactly like the one from Pottery Barn. Enjoy the process, experiment with different techniques, and most importantly, have fun!
