Joy Behar returned to The View after a hiatus and and made it clear she’s “pissed off” with all the “Biden bashing” happening and clashed with co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin at one point.
The rest of the hosts at the View table returned from hiatus a day earlier than Behar, leaving her the only one who had not reacted to the CNN debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump and its fallout.
“I’m a little tired of all the Biden bashing that’s going on. I’m pissed off at it, frankly. There’s a lot of Biden bashing going on and no calls for the sexually abusive felon to step down,” Behar said, adding that no one in the “right wing” is calling for Trump to not be the nominee.
“That’s actually not true though,” Griffin shot back, declaring she’s been saying that for four years. “I’ve been doing it for four years. I testified against him. The fact that the public decided not to agree with it, I can’t help.”
Griffin was previously a communications official in Trump’s administration and she testified before the congressional subcommittee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Behar swiped away the point from her co-host, insisting no Republicans are calling out Trump.
“Oh, come on, I don’t see anybody in the right wing telling Trump, ‘Oh, you have to sit down,'” she said.
When Sara Haines attempted to jump into the conversation and offer the names of Republicans against Trump, Behar turned quickly back to the debate, telling her, “I’m not finished.”
The comedian pushed back on critics raising concerns about the president’s health, claiming his struggles in the debate were not due to his age, but rather telling the truth.
“You know why Trump was better at [the debate]? Because he lies. He practiced his lies for two or three years already. All he did was spew lies that we’ve heard over and over and over again. When you’re telling the truth, Biden was trying so hard to tell the truth, it doesn’t come as easily,” she said.
On Monday’s View, both Griffin and Haines questioned whether Biden could actually win the election while Whoopi Goldberg said he had her support even if he “pooped his pants.” Ana Navarro offered similar enthusiastic support.
Haines accused Democrats of being “dismissive” of liberals critical of Biden and his standing in the race.
Sunny Hostin said she is still supporting the president, but did criticize Biden’s team and their messaging.
“I want him to say, ‘You know what? I’m older, I’m not as sharp as I used to be,'” Hostin said.
“But he’s said that!” Behar jumped in.
“But he hasn’t been saying it recently,” Hostin said. “His surrogates are saying the exact opposite.”
