As if there needed to be any further proof that scammers are getting smarter, Kurt Angle has revealed on social media platform X that he was recently inadvertently made part of a crypto scam. According to the Olympic gold medalist, nefarious overseas internet users purchased a Cameo video from him and had him read something out. Subsequently, the tricksters made it look like he was endorsing their cryptocurrency, which appears to be marketed under the name $kurt and is worth $0.001902 per coin as of writing.

“Hey everyone, I want to make it known I am NOT involved in any bitcoin currency. A few overseas companies purchased a cameo and had me read something, and I am upset they tricked some of you. (Even me) For here on out I am going to be more cautious about who purchases my cameo so this won’t happen again.”

Some people believe that cryptocurrency is the future of the money. Yet, with the absence of proper regulation and the reputation for being involved in illegal activities, many are skeptical of the idea of a decentralized currency, and some countries have outright outlawed them. Still, with the potential of making serious money, many people are prepared to tackle the risks head-on, hoping to have the next Bitcoin, although clearly $kurt isn’t it.
