What happens when two sisters fancy the same baby name?

This exact situation unfolded in one family . A woman revealed that she and her sister Kelly have always been at loggerheads .

Their rivalry dates back to their childhood, with constant competition in sports, academics, and life in general. Now, both sisters find themselves pregnant simultaneously. The Reddit user fell pregnant first, with Kelly following suit shortly after.

The woman confessed that she's had her heart set on the name Josephine for her future daughter for as long as she can remember.

"Kelly knows that this is my dream baby name, and I thought that she'd have enough respect to consider this one name as off limits, but no."

When Kelly and her boyfriend announced their pregnancy, they excitedly told the family they were looking forward to meeting "baby Josie."

She wrote: "I called her up to ask if she was really going to name her baby the same name as mine, and she smugly said that I was free to change my baby's name because she hadn't been born yet, never mind that she was less far along than I was."

The user decided to stand her ground, refusing to change the name. She didn't believe Kelly would actually go through with it, especially after the first baby was born.

"We announced the birth on social media, and to my horror, the very next week, Kelly posted a picture of some custom blankets she'd ordered with the name Josie on them, "for (her) little JoJo", which is a nickname my partner and I used for our Josephine in our post."

The Reddit user gave birth first and named her daughter Josephine, warning her sister Kelly that if she chose the same name, it would be the end of their relationship.

Kelly later had a baby girl and opted for the name Josie.

Following this, the original poster has completely cut ties with Kelly. Despite attempts by Kelly to meet her niece, her efforts have been ignored, causing family divisions as relatives are forced to take sides.

Supporters on Reddit sided with the poster, suggesting that Kelly appears intent on inflicting emotional distress.

One commenter stated: "This seems like the last straw for your relationship. Why would you let that crazy woman around your daughter? She is just trying to set up the sibling competition 2.0."

Another advised: "I don't see a problem with going [no contact] with someone who seems extremely committed to your unhappiness."
