    National Weather Service confirms EF-0 tornado in White County

    WHITE COUNTY, Ark. – The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado that happened on the tail end of overnight severe weather on Tuesday morning.

    NWS officials said the EF-0 tornado touched down in White County southeast of Mt. Vernon just before 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

    The storm report issued by the NWS states that the tornado is estimated to have had maximum winds of 65 miles per hour.

    The report also notes that the damage was confined to a backyard playground that was tossed around the yard.

    According to the NWS, a tornado classified as a 0 on the Enhanced Fujita scale has three-second gusts ranging from 65 miles per hour to 85 miles per hour.
