A 74-year-old Bushkill Township employee died in a riding mower accident Tuesday on township property.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek said Louis Nagy, of Bushkill Center Road in the township, was pronounced dead at Albert Ponds Preserve along Albert Road.

The coroner’s office was notified at 10:44 a.m. that an employee who was operating a tractor-style riding mower became pinned beneath it. Officials believe Nagy was beginning to mow grass along the bank of one of the ponds when the mower tipped over.

The preserve is between Route 33 and Sullivan Trail.

Lysek said the cause and manner of death will be determined pending completion of the investigation. He said no further information would be immediately released.

Bushkill Township officials either declined to comment or did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment.
