A festive week of Independence Day celebrations and events culminated with Marine Trades Association of Baltimore County’s Middle River Fireworks Extravaganza on the evening of June 6.

According to MTABC’s Jim High, the show had a remarkable turnout and exhibited the highest aerial fireworks display in Maryland when compared to other fireworks shows.

Hosted annually by MTABC, the Middle River Fireworks Extravaganza is one of the largest-scale Independence Day events in the county and region every year, attracting a vibrant community of boaters, local residents, law enforcement officials and thousands of others eager to celebrate Independence Day weekend with a riveting fireworks display.

As it does every year, the event attracted thousands to the Middle River. Somewhere from 2,000 to 3,000 boats were on the river as the show unfolded, according to High.

Many viewed the displays from their backyards and patios while others looked from waterfront bars and restaurants. The extravaganza also fostered attendance from multiple Baltimore County agencies, including the police department.

For the past few months, MTABC has solicited support from community members. Over the several three weeks, the organization has held fundraising events in preparation for the fireworks extravaganza.

MTABC recently acknowledged more than 40 sponsors for the fireworks extravaganza, consisting of local organizations and businesses.
