UPDATE: The boil water advisory issued in Edgefield County has been repealed on July 10 as of 3:20 p.m. The boil water advisory for some McCormick County residents is still in place.

SOUTH CAROLINA (WJBF) – Boil water advisories declared for some residents in Edgefield and McCormick Counties on July 9 are still in place.

Edgefield County Water and Sewer Authority advised customers on located in the Currytown Road area, including Plantation Point, Whispering Woods, Mealing Drive, Currytowne Station and Martintown Road to Mealing Drive, to vigorously boil their water for one minute before drinking or cooking.

The boil water advisory is seen as a precautionary measure, as officials believe the notice will be repealed within 24 hours on July 10.

Residents of McCormick County on Serpentine Drive off of Old Augusta Road should also boil their water for one full minute before using it to drink or cook.

Both advisories were announced as the result of water leaks.
