    Update:

Pierce County sent an alert message to residents at 7 a.m. saying that state Route 507 had reopened in both directions.

    Initial post:

Crews were responding to a large brush fire Tuesday evening on state Route 507 south of Roy that had broken out near 288th Street South, blocking both directions of traffic.

Pierce County Fire District #23 posted on their X account that crews from District 23 “along with fire units from a large portion of the county” were on their way to the fire.

“Please avoid 507 until this incident is clear,” part of the post said.

No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation, according to another post on X by Graham Fire & Rescue.

A post from the Pierce County X account says the fire broke out at 4:32 p.m.

Graham Fire posted just before 5:30 p.m. that the fire was about 50 acres, and that state Department of Natural Resources crews and helicopter water drops were helping fight the fire, along with other agencies.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
