    Fire burns in Tulare County at over 500 acres, Cal Fire says

    TULARE COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Firefighters are working on a new fire in Tulare County, 10 miles east of Porterville, which began around Tuesday early morning, Cal Fire says.

    Firefighters responded to a fire in the area of Cow Mountain Road on the Tulare River Tribe of California, 10 miles east of Porterville, for a fire that began around 12:50 a.m.

    Fire officials say the name of the fire is Cow Fire and as of Tuesday evening, it is at 501 acres and 40% containment. Acreage is within both tribal lands as well as within the state responsibility area. The forward progress of the fire has been stopped.

    Cal Fire says personnel are working in a remote location with difficult access. There is a continued commitment of Cal Fire air and ground resources as containment lines are improved.

    The cause of this fire is under investigation.
