NWA Council makes shattering offer for 50 businesses

The Northwest Arkansas Council and EPIC Glass Recycling of Little Rock are offering four months of free glass recycling to 50 NWA businesses.

Why it matters: Recycling glass reduces energy consumption, air pollution and the use of raw materials to make new glass.

State of play: Bars, restaurants, liquor stores or other businesses in Benton and Washington counties interested in participating must sign up by Aug. 31 .

    • Each business selected for the NWA Recycles program will receive recycling bins; glass will be collected at least once a week.

Between the lines: EPIC will turn collected glass into ultra-lightweight foamed glass aggregate , widely used as infill for road construction and building projects.

The bottom line: About 50 NWA restaurants, bars, breweries, hotels and nonprofits already work with EPIC to recycle glass.
