Some songs are pleasant, some are tear-jerkers, and some get the blood pumping. But what about songs that have their own unique novelty for being just straight-up weird? Let’s dive into four songs that are some of the weirdest tracks of all time! This is far from an exhaustive list; we just think these songs deserve some credit for being both weird and particularly well-written.

    1. “Hocus Pocus” by Focus

This song is a fascinating ride from start to finish. It’s got yodeling, scat singing, whistling, prog-rock elements, and a flute solo. Nobody was doing “weird” quite like the Dutch progressive rock bands of the 1970s.

    2. “Bike” by Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd was known for being highly experimental and unafraid of playing around with the weirdest elements they could find for their songs. It’s what made them so good. That being said, “Bike” is probably their oddest song to date, though we’re sure megafans out there could find something more bizarre.

    3. “They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” by Napoleon XIV

This would not be a list of the weirdest songs of all time without at least mentioning singer/songwriter and producer Napoleon XIV’s hit song “They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” It’s borderline creepy and likely managed to hit no. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1966 because everyone was doing psychedelic drugs. It’s honestly kind of a bop, though.

    4. “Muffin Man” by Frank Zappa

Frank Zappa loved writing weird songs and “Muffin Man” is just one of many. The song features a spoken word introduction from The Muffin Man himself before kicking off a psychedelic jam that would make even the most seasoned weird-music-lover feel disoriented. But in a good way, of course.
