Bosque County Genealogical and Historical Society would like to invite everyone to our next program meeting on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1 p.m. at our new Library and Research Center located at 9581 Highway 6 (between Ace Hardware and Brookshires) in Meridian.

This is going to be an excellent program presented by Brady Taylor, Chief Meteorologist for KWTX, Channel 10, Waco. The program is “The Effects of Weather on the Movement of Our Ancestors.”

There are reasons our ancestors moved westward and weather played a significant role in their decisions, and Brady has done extensive research on the history of weather as well as the history of the events of our country to bring this program. This is a continuation of our migration series for those of you that were at the last two meetings.

Brady graduated in May 2005 from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology, and in 2019 was named the Chief Meteorologist at KWTX. Brady is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.

    New location

BCGHS is thrilled to share updates about the BCGHS Family History Library and Research Center's exciting new chapter and our upcoming events.

Our relocation to 9251 Highway 6 (located between Ace Hardware and Brookshire’s) in Meridian opens up a world of possibilities. This new space will also accommodate a public terminal, and we are already approved to become an affiliated Family History Library with FamilySearch, a significant step forward for us. Please be aware that our program events, usually held at the Clifton Civic Center, are being moved to our new location.

We are deeply grateful for the immense support we have received from our local community. The Sheriff's department, in particular, played a significant role by providing inmates to assist in our moving process. This collaborative effort truly reflects the spirit of our community and its commitment to our library's success.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, July 13, to learn more about our ancestors’lives and decisions they made that brought us where we are today.

The calendar for all BCGHS events can be found on the BCGHS website at https://bosque-heritage.org/ on the Scheduled Events page.

BCGHS invites the community to their Facebook Group page at https://www. facebook.com/groups/ bosquegenealogy/ or contact us at bosquegenealogy@gmail.com.
