The first two nights of the Barron County Fair will again feature harness horse racing for grandstand events.

Harness racing has a post time of 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, and Thursday, July 18.

Harness horse racing history at the fairgrounds dates back to the 1800s. The fairgrounds has a pacing record of one minute, 56 and 2/5 seconds by PV Miracle Mary in 2017 and a trotting record of 1:59.1 by Bordogna in 2020.

The Rice Lake races are the second of seven races during the Wisconsin Harness Horse Association schedule.

Last year the races were reduced to one night after a storm dumped hail and rain on the track on the first day of the fair.
