Something about sunshine and warm temperatures makes drinks like pina coladas even more appealing. Not only do these frozen beverages help cool us down, but their taste makes us feel like we are on vacation, even if we are in our backyard.

However, if you’re hosting a large gathering, they aren’t easy to prepare for a crowd unless you plan to be a bartender all day. Thankfully, there’s an easy way for your guests to enjoy these flavors without all the fuss.

Take a look at this video from July 5 to see how to turn these tropical tastes into bite-sized treats.

Not only do they look incredibly festive with their cherries and colorful umbrellas, but they’re also perfect for making ahead of time. If you’re trying to be the hostess with the mostest, they are the ideal way to greet your guests as they arrive for your summer gathering. Talk about a fun way to get the party started!

    Making Pina Colada Bites

    1. Prepare the pineapple. First, she cuts the pineapple into approximately 1-inch rounds. Then, she removes the core and slices it into triangles.

    2. Add the booze! She places her triangles into a baking dish and pierces the fruit with a toothpick. Then, she adds a blend of Myers and Malibu rum and coconut cream. Once they’re soaking, they’re placed in the refrigerator to set.

    3. Roll in toasted coconut. After draining off the liquid, she rolls each pineapple wedge in toasted coconut, then places a maraschino cherry on top and skewers it all together with a paper umbrella. How cute is that?

If you’re like me and hate to waste anything, you can use that leftover rum to make yourself a frozen pina colada . Depending on how much you have remaining, add this mix to a blender, along with a little more coconut cream, pineapple juice, and ice. You can even garnish your frozen drinks with one of the boozy pineapple wedges. I don’t know about you, but I think that’s the perfect way to make the most of everything!

Even in the middle of the city, the flavors of pineapple, coconut, and rum can make it seem like we’re sitting on a Caribbean island. So, if you’re unable to get away this summer, you can invite a few friends over and pretend you’re all away on vacation. On the bright side, you won’t have to worry about a crowded airport, flight delays, or packing your bags.
