I abandoned my full cart and walked out of Walmart thanks to self-checkout process – manager’s response was ‘ridiculous’

ONE Walmart customer is raging after a recent experience at the retailer.

According to the customer's Facebook post, only self-checkout is to blame.

A recent Facebook post by Kathleen Eastman highlights a growing discontent with the retailer's self-checkout policies.

Kathleen and her husband, Brent, recently walked out of a Walmart, leaving behind a cart full of groceries, after discovering that there were no cashiers on duty, only self-checkout lanes.

Kathleen's post details their experience: after spending an hour shopping, they headed to the checkout only to find all lanes were self-service.

Seeking assistance, Kathleen approached the customer service area and asked to speak with the store manager.

The manager, however, had a disheartening response.

"I'm sorry, but we are seriously understaffed and there's nothing I can do," he said, per Kathleen's post.

Frustrated, Kathleen told him that if no one could scan their items, they would leave the cart where it was.

The manager's repeated apologies did little to resolve the situation.

True to her word, Kathleen rolled the cart over to the customer service area and left, expressing her frustration with a final, "Have fun," before exiting the store.

"What a waste of time," Kathleen concluded the post.

    'GOOD FOR YOU!'

In response to the post, one commenter wrote, "Good for you! It’s ridiculous."

Another shared a similar experience, writing, "My husband and I did that too a couple of months ago at Walmart.

"No registers open, just self-checkout. We left our shopping cart full of items since they refused to open up a register."

The issue, it seems, is not isolated.

    What a waste of time.

A third commenter expressed a broader concern about the workforce, writing, "No one wants to work, and if they want a paycheck, they aren't much of support staff by just looking at time pass by so they can leave….

"And many managers aren't able to say much for sake of discrimination! It's BS!!"

    The underlying issue is multifaceted.

Retailers are increasingly adopting self-checkout systems to streamline operations and cut costs.

Meanwhile, another Walmart shopper called the store a bully for added shipping charges for online orders.

And yet another Wamart customer complained about not having received a refund after being overcharged.
