It was briefly noted on the July 8th RAW, and Tyler Bate confirms his injury and that he will miss extended time.

Michael Cole mentioned it very briefly at the onset of one of the RAW matches on Monday. As Pete Dunne prepared to take on Big Bronson Reed, Cole mentioned that Tyler Bate sustained a recent injury. As such, per the announcer, he would miss some time. That was as specific as things got at that time, but the Big Strong Boy himself has come out to provide a bit more detail .

Bate and Dunne made an appearance to wrestle a match against Hank and Tank on NXT last Tuesday. At some point during that match, Bate revealed that he tore his left pectoral major and tendon off the bone. He has since undergone successful surgery and will miss extended time. How long is not clear, but it seems likely that we won’t see Bate back in action again for at least a couple more months, if not longer.

So how long will he miss?

Doing a quick google search, the general time frame for a full tear is four to six months. Using that and doing some rough math, a return for the 2025 Royal Rumble seems to be an optimistic target. Not impossible, but it all depends on how rehab and recovery goes. For reference, and without a qualified surgeon comparing the two injuries, Cody Rhodes tore his pectoral in early June of 2022. He was fully cleared to compete for the 2023 Royal Rumble. With Rhodes, WWE announced he’d be in ahead of time (which was somewhat a surprise). To me, that meant that they had a very high confidence that he’d be 100 percent so they ran with it.

Bate, by comparison, tore his a month later in the year. It’s not completely impossible to see him make it back by then too, but it may be a tad optimistic.
