Kitty Moana, a stay-at-home mom of two, devised a simple workout regimen and a healthy diet in February.

With just 25 minutes of physical activity a day, she has shed 30 pounds.

After reaching her highest weight and lowest point in January, Moana began her weight loss journey as much for her mental health as her physical well-being.

“I wasn’t making healthy choices until recently,” Moana explained on Instagram in May . “I was suffering from depression/anxiety and in the long run, I ended up becoming ill, stagnant in life, drank more alcohol than usual, ate whatever the heck made me feel good, and gained weight astronomically fast.”

“All while trying to be (what is most important to me) a ‘good’ parent and partner, I couldn’t achieve that if I wasn’t being ‘good’ to myself. Once I understood this, everything changed,” she added.

Moana, who regularly posts to Instagram under the handle @MissKittyMoana to inspire others on their way to wellness, credits her slim-down to a mind shift, a caloric deficit and a daily commitment to cardio.

She says she completes at least 25 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each day, which includes jogging, power-walking, weight training, using the treadmill and dancing in front of the television.

In one post, Moana stans the power of cardio, “20mins of jogging/power walking a day combined with a calorie deficit and healthy eating was all I needed to achieve my weight loss goals in 4 months. I did do some light weight training but Cardio FTW [for the win].”

Moana’s regimen is in step with the American Heart Association’s recommendation that adults incorporate exercise into their daily routine, getting 2½ hours of moderate physical activity or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week to promote well-being and cardiovascular health.

Power-walking, in particular, has been lauded by experts as the key to weight loss.

Moana’s fitness mantra doubles as instructions for anyone looking to follow a similar path, “Walk outside, eat well, exercise, read, repeat.”

For Moana, eating well means preparing nutritious, low-calorie meals at home.

She often posts her weekly meal prep, which includes the calorie count for options like cheese and zucchini muffins with protein yogurt and fresh fruit for breakfast, chicken patties with broccoli salad for lunch, and beef and vegetable lasagna with baby cucumbers and cherry tomatoes for dinner.

For snacks, Moana reaches for fresh-cut fruit and doesn’t go a day without drinking two juice “shots” — a blend of fruits and veggies intended to boost her energy and immunity.

Moana maintains, “Nutrition, healthy choices, and exercising daily all played a big role in my health journey success! Keeping consistent is key!”
