Killer husband Chris Watts 'uncomfortable' behavior that his wife might have mistaken for being a 'good guy'

A body language expert has identified behaviour that might have made victim Shannan Watts and her family think her murderous husband Chris Watts was a "good guy" .

Wedding footage from the couple's wedding shows "introverted behavior" from the man, who would years later strangle his wife to death along with their two daughters.

Body language expert Judi James analysed the wedding footage for any indications of trouble and found Chris Watts' behaviour alarming. She said: "If Chris Watt's wedding videos suggest anything it is an introvert-looking personality.

"His participation signals are low here while his wife Shanan's are high. She looks comfortable actively showing her love for Chris and her enjoyment of her wedding day. She loops her arms round his neck and gazes up at his face adoringly and when they pose together for photos her hand on her hip is a splay gesture that signals confidence and happiness."

She went on: "The introvert behaviors, though, could easily pass for shyness. He is referred to as a 'good guy' in her life and his quieter nature could have been mistaken for trustworthiness and reliability.

"People use the expression 'opposites attract,' and it might have been felt that his introversion allowed her to be outgoing, happy, and free. Love can make even the worst qualities look like admirable traits because we want to feel we are loving the right person."

In the case of Chris and Shanann Watts, neighbours and friends were initially shocked to discover that the man they thought was a 'family man' had strangled his pregnant wife and two young daughters, dumped their bodies in crude oil barrels and left them in the desert.

Judi went on: "We all love to think we can pick the good guy from the bad. Being an astute judge of character even on first meeting makes us feel safer and less likely to be conned or harmed in any way."

"But it is sadly too easy to misinterpret signals we receive into a wrong diagnosis or assumption. When we make up our minds quickly via the attribution effect or first impression we will often suffer from the attribution bias which is where we look for signs to prove we were right," continued James.

"Miss-reading is common though, as is miss-interpreting. How often do we hear neighbors describe someone who has committed a horrific, brutal murder as 'very quiet and polite, a nice person,' basing what they assumed to be a 'good' personality on the fact they would bid them 'good morning' in the street?"

"Signs of guilt or lying are rarely as obvious as we would like to think and if a murderer has a certain kind of psychiatric profile they might actually not feel any guilt and therefore be able to look and act blameless."

atts previously claimed that a spontaneous outburst led him to murder his pregnant wife and his two daughters so he could be with his mistress and co-worker, Nichol Kessinger.

In a chilling letter to true crime author Cheryln Cadle, twisted murderer Chris Watts detailed how he attempted to kill his two young daughters Bella, four, and Celeste (Cece), three, before strangling his pregnant wife Shanann in their Frederick, Colorado home.

Shockingly, his initial attempt to smother his children failed, leaving them bruised and traumatised. This first murder attempt was not confessed by the oil field worker during his numerous interviews with police and FBI agents following the horrific events of August 2018.

Watts is currently serving five life sentences without the chance of parole, with three to be served consecutively. He pleaded guilty to multiple counts of first-degree murder as part of a plea deal to avoid the death penalty - which was later abolished in Colorado in 2020 anyway.
