Editor's note: The North Carolina Department of Transportation has moved work on the road from July 15-16 to July 23-24, according to a Thursday news release.

One of two lanes on U.S. 74/76 eastbound outside of Sandy Creek is scheduled to close in July for utility construction, according to a news release from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

A state highway contractor will close the lane east of N.C. 87 (Maco Road) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 23-24 while utility work is being done on the side of the highway.

Drivers should slow down and proceed cautiously through this work zone during those two days.
