NEW YORK (PIX11) – A warning for Apple ID users: Beware of a new phishing attack trying to get your personal information through text.

Security software company Symantec issued an alert this week. Scammers pretending to be Apple service representatives send text messages with a link to a fake iCloud login page, according to Symantec.

If users put in their information, they may be at risk of schemers gaining control over their devices, accessing personal and financial information, and making unauthorized purchases, Symantec warned.

Apple reminded its users that the company never asks for personal data through text messages. The tech giant warned that if users are not actively working with Apple support, any messages they receive are likely scams.
