EXCLUSIVE — Maryland Republican Senate candidate Larry Hogan is dishing out some satire in his race against Democrat Angela Alsobrooks .

Hogan is deploying a new oppo campaign website, unveiled Wednesday and first viewed by the Washington Examiner. It delivers tongue-in-cheek accolades to criticize Alsobrooks on hot-button issues and her record as Prince George’s County executive while touting his middle-of-the-road style of politicking.

“Angela Alsobrooks is another partisan machine politician who is part of the broken system and doesn’t deliver on her promises,” the site states. “We can’t afford a leader like Larry Hogan who might offend his colleagues by daring to be independent and actually work across the aisle to get things done. Send her to Washington because she will fit right in!”

Modeled after Alsobrooks’s website, Hogan’s is cloaked in her campaign’s signature lime green and black color scheme that bears a nearly identical domain name: angelaalsobrooks.org , not to be confused with the real angelaalsobrooks.com .

The Alsobrooks campaign responded in a statement to the Washington Examiner, accusing Hogan of deceiving voters and tying him to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

"Mitch McConnell recruited Larry Hogan to run for this seat to get a majority in the Senate. No Marylander thinks that’s a laughing matter," Alsobrooks's communications director Gina Ford said. "Larry can misconstrue whatever he wants, but we know his record and we know that this race represents who will have the 51st seat. Our future and freedoms are at stake.”

The Hogan oppo site touches on policies that the centrist Republican has most frequently used to rail against Alsobrooks on the campaign trail, including rising crime, education, government spending, and taxes.

“Whether it’s a lack of funding for police and firefighters or even just picking up the trash, Angela’s administration has taken swift action by failing to deliver on even the most basic of government functions,” the Hogan site says. “But, then again, so has Washington. With your help, she can prove there is nothing that can’t be excused away by blaming others."

The battleground Senate race is one of more than a half-dozen that Democrats must win to have a shot at retaining control of the upper chamber. Alsobrooks maintains the upper hand in the deep-blue state, but Hogan is banking that his two terms as a centrist GOP Maryland governor will carry him across the finish line by appealing to independents and moderate Democrats.

Hogan has recently leaned most into combating inflation , this election's biggest issue that presents a major vulnerability for President Joe Biden and Democrats down the ballot.
