Queen Camilla, the wife of King Charles III, is a known dog lover and both her and The King have two adorable Jack Russell Terriers, named Beth and Bluebell. The palace has long been home to many a dog, with the late Queen Elizabeth having more than 30 Corgis during her reign. Not only did the King and Queen rescue their Jack Russel Terriers from the Battersea Dogs and Cats home in London, but Queen Camilla supports many different animal charities and trusts.

Recently The Queen was bestowed with one particularly adorable and furry honor, which was the naming of a new medical detection puppy!

Medical Detection Dogs .org explains, "Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can be trained to identify minute odor changes emitted prior to an emergency and alert the person to take preventative action."

The charity explains on their FAQ page that these bio detection dogs all live in people's homes with volunteer fosters and are picked up in the evening and dropped off in the morning. They work around four days a a week for about twenty minutes at a time.

For the medical alert dogs, "Dog alerts need to be clear and persistent, as our clients often have no awareness of an imminent “episode”. The dogs are with their owners 24/7 and alert during both the day and night. Dogs are trained to alert by either jumping up and/or licking strongly. The type of alert will vary depending on the needs of the client."
