Hexum, who follows in the footsteps of his bandmate Pnut as an IDOS guest , launches into a conversation about his personal relationship with ska music and how that connection to the style ultimately translated to 311’s own sound. He also touches on the various moments the band intersected with ska and reggae cultures, as well as why it perhaps wasn’t the best idea to crush a couple beers backstage before opening for Fugazi at 311’s first-ever show.

Elsewhere, Hexum touches on 311’s running gag on The Eric Andre Show , his love for The Untouchables , and if Jeff Rosenstock will ever get to play the 311 cruise.
