When a dog is rescued, we rarely know what they experienced before. While some may have had a fulfilling life, others aren't so lucky. And even if they weren't mistreated, they may not have had an opportunity to see much of the world.

As humans, we can do our best to introduce them to new experiences, but sometimes, they need a canine companion to show them how to have a little fun. Watch this video from July 8 to see how one rescue dog showed another how to enjoy the cool water!

Despite a rough start on Skid Row in California, this beautiful Husky has nothing but good days ahead. Although he may be unfamiliar with nature, his handsome cousin Ritchie (@ ritchiethepyr ) is there to guide him through this new, exciting world.

A Rescued Husky Takes His First Swim

When Bear arrived at the lake, he was happy to expend his energy running up and down the shoreline. Although he may have initially been apprehensive about entering the water, Ritchie helped explain to him why it was fun. After seeing that his pal was having a good time cooling off, he braved the waters and tried it. Ritchie even stayed by his side for support as he learned this skill. It wasn't long before he paddled away and chased a few ducks. He took to the sport so quickly that he left his cousin to watch as he ventured further into the water. The smile on their faces as they made their way back to shore was priceless! That's what summer is all about. Luckily, this beautiful rescue will experience many joyful days like this in his new life.

Do All Dogs Know How to Swim?

The term "Doggy paddle" can be misleading, as not all pups are natural swimmers . While breeds such as Retrievers and Newfoundlands have webbed paws to help them paddle, dogs like Bulldogs and Boxers are not as adept. Although this boy quickly caught on, not all Huskies may adapt as easily, as they were made for snow and pulling sleds.

People enjoyed watching these new pals. Viewer @ruthmsomers responded, "That was one of the best videos I have seen in some time. What a great accomplishment for Bear to get in the water with Ritchie. What a great friendship!" Everyone needs a buddy like this. Another person shared, "Oh, Bear, you have the best friend in the entire world. The way the king watches him as they are swimming back..... you can feel the love!" That's for sure!

Our dogs are not just our best friends, but they also share a bond of unwavering loyalty and companionship with each other, a sight that never fails to uplift our spirits.
