Officials expect to complete repairs and upgrades to the Tangipahoa Parish jail perimeter security soon.

It follows the escape of four inmates in May.

New Sheriff Gerald Sticker says crews have been fortifying the fencing to help prevent future escapes.

"Over two and a half miles of razor wire... have been strung," he advised this week. "They are continue to string it.  They are waiting in another shipment."

Sticker says nearly two months after the escape, the project should be done in the next couple of days.

"I foresee, hopefully by the end of this week, those security issues that effect the border - the perimeter of this facility will have been addressed."

The sheriff says the are also addressing personnel, training and other issues as well.

Three alleged murders have been recaptured since the escape, but convicted armed robber Jamarcus Cyrian remains at large despite a $10,000 reward.

TPSO posted, "Sheriff Gerald Sticker welcomed the Louisiana DOC (Department of Corrections) into the jail for an evaluation— good, bad and ugly— of the changes in place so far."
