ADAIR COUNTY, Iowa — The Adair County Fair starts today at the Adair County Fairgrounds in Greenfield. The fair runs through Sunday and is packed full of fun for attendees.

Gerald Sychra, president of the Adair County Fair Board, said the fairgrounds weren’t damaged by the tornado earlier this year.

“We’re very lucky we escaped the major damage, we really had no damage just debris, so yeah we’re very lucky,” Sychra said.

Brenda Meisenheimer, board secretary for the Adair County Fair, said the fair is a chance for Greenfield residents to take their mind off of things.

“With what’s happened here in Greenfield, the fair is kind of a place to bring our community together for some normalcy and we also get to see the kids get to showcase all their great projects for 4H and FFA, so we knew it was important to have the fair this year. It’s always important, but this year it’s even more important to bring the community together,” Meisenheimer said.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children aged 5-12, and free for children under 5-years-old.
