BOSSIER PARISH, La. ( KTAL/KMSS ) — The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office announced one person died following strong storms on Monday.

According to a press release, Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington reports the sheriff’s office received reports of storm damage in the area and that deputies and crews are currently working to clear it. Officials stated the damage includes trees down on powerlines, roads and structures. Many areas are also without power.

The Bossier Parish Coroner’s Office stated in a press release 31-year-old Kaylan Logan was found dead in her home after a tree fell on her house in northeast Benton. Details about the incident are limited at this time.

The path of destruction began in the southern part of the parish in Elm Grove and is still being assessed all the way up to the Highway 2 area in Plain Dealing.

Whittington urges everyone to avoid the affected areas, so damage can be further assessed and removed from roadways and powerlines.

Whittington would also like to remind everyone that some roads heavily affected could be closed for some time. It could also be quite some time before power is fully restored to some areas in the parish.
