Who says IKEA is just for assembling flat-pack furniture and arguing over Allen wrenches? (Even if that is what most of us know about anything IKEA-related.) The real magic of IKEA lies in its versatility. From turning bookcases into built-in units to transforming dressers into bed platforms, the possibilities are endless.

But let's simplify things a bit today. Inspired by TikTok creator Tina le Mac , we'll show you how to take a basic $15 IKEA tray and convert it into a chic wall hanger perfect for your keys, hats, or whatever else you need to hang up.

I’m a simple woman, see new IKEA piece, I hack new IKEA piece 🤭 I meaaaannnn, this GRAMORT tray is just the perfect base to DIY into so many things—it could become a light, a headboard, or wall hooks like I made here! What would you turn it into? #diyhack #ikeahack #ikeahacks #ikeahomefinds #ikeahacks #diyhomedecor

First, let's talk about the star of the show—the Gramort tray . This newer $15 gem from IKEA comes in natural bamboo wood with a woven base. Measuring 28 by 11 inches, it's sizable enough to be functional yet stylish. While you could leave the tray as is if you don't want to go through the extra steps, Tina adds her flair by staining the inner weave a darker color and painting the outside liner black. This gives the tray a more defined, polished look.

Once the tray is all dolled up and dry (because nobody likes paint transfer), it's time to get down to business. Tina uses three larger hooks from IKEA and attaches them to the inside of the tray using super glue. Super glue might be enough to hold most items, but it's wise not to test its limits—no hanging bowling balls here! To ensure the hooks are evenly spaced, she measures and marks spots with small strips of duct tape before attaching the hooks. For extra stability, she screws the hooks into place and paints over the screws to blend them in seamlessly.

Where Can You Use This Wall Hook Hanger?

After all that effort, the only thing left is to hang up your new creation. Tina chose to place hers in the hallway for bags and hats. But the beauty of this hack is its versatility. Need a towel rack in the bathroom? Done. Want a spot for backpacks in the kids' room? Easy. The options are endless, and the end result is both functional and stylish.
