A bid update for the Marshall Junction Welcome Center project was brought up during the Develop Saline County Advisory Board meeting on Wednesday, July 10.

During the meeting, the Saline County Commission updated the board that they are expecting bid documents for the Welcome Center on Friday, July 19. The commission had to re-bid for the project after all the previous bids came in over budget. The county’s architect had to rework some of the plans for the Welcome Center to decrease the cost of the project. Commissioners also reported that the Missouri Department of Transportation had a few tweaks for the southeast corner of the junction in order to prepare the area for further development. The commission says it has a meeting with MoDOT coming up to discuss what further actions are required.

In other news, the board reviewed the disbursements that have been given to each entity in the county. From 2019 to 2023, the five entities, which include Saline County, Marshall, Slater, Sweet Springs, and Arrow Rock, have received a total of $749,770.08 each.

The other entities have been given a total of $662,087.48. That total has been disbursed among the smaller cities and organizations for development projects over the past five years. These numbers do not factor in any money disbursed in 2024.
