The Vinton County Prosecutor’s Office announced that the Vinton County Commissioners voted July 2 to suspend funding to the Vinton County Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCCVB) until a new interim board is appointed.

This decision comes in light of recent revelations indicating potential irregularities and operational issues within the current board of the VCCVB, the Prosecutor’s Office said in a press release issued Wednesday.

“After careful consideration, based on this new information, the Commissioners have requested the resignation of current board members amidst concerns over questionable acts and operational challenges,” Prosecutor Bill Archer said.

In response, the current VCCVB board has taken the step to temporarily lay off its current executive director, Amanda Boring. A native of Vinton County, VCHS Class of 2020, Boring started a short time ago on April 15.

Archer said the primary objective of this action is to initiate a thorough reorganization of the VCCVB board with the intention of reinstating operations under new leadership. The Commissioners aim to preserve the continuity of the bureau’s services and are advocating for the retention of the current executive director.

“The Vinton County Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes its commitment to transparency and accountability in governance, ensuring that taxpayer funds are utilized effectively and responsibly. Further updates on this matter will be communicated as developments unfold,” Archer said.
