True Linkswear is a relative newbie to the best golf shoe scene. With its mantra 'Enjoy The Walk' the shoes we've tested so far from the brand have often been casual, summer spikeless shoes. The All Day Knit 3 and Lux Hybrid are excellent casual golf shoes , so we were excited to try the new Lux G - which has been billed as something of a step up in performance according to the brand.

Looks-wise, the silhouette is one that True Linkswear fans will be very familiar with. To me, it strikes a nice balance between casual sneaker and athletic golf shoe, blending the two styles nicely. New on the Lux G is a mesh vamp on the upper. It has something of a gloss and a sheen on it we've not seen on previous True shoes and its much easier to clean and feels like it'll be longer lasting than a pure knit upper. This upper is fully waterproof and the brand is so confident in the durability of it that the Lux G comes with a 2-year waterproof warranty - impressive stuff. From my testing on course, I can attest to the waterproof qualities of the shoe.

That brings me on to the outsole, probably the part of the shoe I was most impressed with. It's used with mountaineering grade rubber tread, making it more than suitable for the different types of grass and terrain you'll encounter on the golf course. It's still incredibly low profile, giving the Lux G the ability to be worn comfortably worn on harder surfaces off the course. Some shoes like the G/FORE G/18 or Adidas Codechaos 22 also have excellent spikeless outsoles, but are too protruding to wear off the course - True has got the balance just right here.

The Lux G comes with the same Wanderlux midsole I've tested on other True shoes. While not being as comfortable as the likes of the FootJoy Pro/SLX or Ecco LT1 , i's still a soft and well cushioned midsole I enjoy wearing. It's got just the right combination of cushioning while walking and support through the swing that I felt confident in. Simiarly, the padded heel lock system of this shoe did a great job of keeping the heel area of my foot comfortable, while also giving me the sensation that I could swing at my fastest.

Sizing is a touch tricky with True shoes. In the All Day Knit 3 I needed to go up a size and a half, yet the Lux G is probably closer to true to size - so be aware of that. A slight lack of color options - just the three plain colors currently - is the only thing really holding back this excellent shoe. For real off course versatility, I'd point you more in the direction of True's other offerings. However, if you want that combination of performance and style the Lux G is True's best shoe to date.
