Meagan Good was hesitant to reveal her relationship with Jonathan Majors.

Speaking with People magazine about her romance with the actor, Good said, “Someone saw us somewhere going to a movie and then kind of reported it, and it was like, ‘Should we shut it down or not?'”

“And I was like, ‘No, because people have a perception of you that’s not true. A perception of who you date that’s not true,'” continued Good. “So if this is what it is then at some point they’re going to find out.”

The Divorce in the Black star explained that Majors “actually tried to encourage me to not be with him. He wanted to protect me.” However, Good was unfazed by the attention surrounding their relationship. “I was like, ‘My love, first of all, you’re dealing with a Black Leo. And also, I grew up in this industry. The things that I’ve been through gave me the bandwidth to love other people, regardless. So when we got together it was like, this is going to be a lot, but you got the right one,” she said.

Good and Majors’ romance was made public in May 2023 after a witness tipped off TMZ that the couple went on a date to Alamo Drafthouse. Months later in December, Majors was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and harassment . He was then sentenced to a 52-week domestic violence program .

Majors allegedly injured his ex-partner, Grace Jabbari, during a domestic dispute in March 2023. Jabbari testified that while in Majors’ car, she saw a text on his phone that read, “Oh how I wish to be kissing you,” suggesting that he was cheating on her. According to Jabbari, she grabbed Majors’ phone and the actor reacted by assaulting her, including hitting her head as he attempted to grab his phone from her. He also allegedly threw her back in the car after she tried to exit.

Following his guilty verdict, The New York Times interviewed two women who alleged Majors had physically and emotionally abused them during their respective relationships . Through his lawyer, Majors denied the accusations, alleging that while the relationships were “toxic,” he was not abusive towards his former partners.
