One of the major pitfalls in the UCLA Bruins big move to the Big Ten was the severing of the historic rivalry between the Cal Bears. UCLA Football and Cal have a 100-year playing history with their first game dating back to November 4, 1933. That game took place in Pasadena and ended in a 0-0 tie.

For those that have cherished this rivalry, they can find solace in that a home-and-home series has been added to the future schedule!

Per Brett McMurphy , UCLA will play at Cal in 2026 and 2028, and Cal will play UCLA at the historic Rose Bowl in 2027 and 2029.

It will be a two-year hiatus, but then the rivalry can be restored to its rightful place with the hope of extending the series for good, similar to the USC-Notre Dame rivalry.

UCLA leads the overall series 58-35-1, but Cal won the most recent game last year at the Rose Bowl, 33-7. UCLA has a 33-14-1 home record and a 25-21 record on the road.

There were a few other changes to the UCLA schedule besides just the Cal addition.

The highly anticipated SEC matchups with Georgia and Auburn were dropped, and instead, UCLA will play Utah in 2025 at the Rose Bowl, and at Rice-Eccles in 2030, and the aforementioned matchups with Cal.
